NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The Washington Township Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a public hearing on Tuesday December 22, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Washington Township Hall located at 7464 County Rd. 91, Lewistown, Ohio 43333. Our R-2 District zoning regulations require a sum of ten feet to the edge of the overhangs on the sides. Marc & Kherry DeLorenzo are requesting a side setback variance of two feet, which would give them eight feet instead of the required ten feet, to construct a new single-family dwelling on their parcel 51-019-17-01-005-001, located at 8359 T R 292, Huntsville, OH 43324.

Washington Township, founded in 1839, is a rural, agricultural community that offers open space, farm lands, and residential property for growing families and  farms. Today, we are fortunate to have jobs held by many township residents who work at both large and small area businesses.  Washington Township residents enjoy a beautiful park, the protection of our Police Department, well maintained roads and cemeteries, and zoning laws enforced by its own zoning inspector.

Indian Lake Schools is in Washington Township and “Laker Pride” is seen in abundance.  The original school was in Lewistown and holds the distinction of being the first public school north of the Greenville Treaty Line in 1833. It was in use until 1840.

The village of Russells Point is located in northern Washington Twp., and the unincorporated community of Lewistown lies in the township's center. The southern part of Indian Lake is located in northern Washington Twp.

Washington Township is 1 of the 17 townships of
Logan County, Ohio. The 2000 census found 3,945 people in the township.
